Woodland Play

Danehill CEP School is blessed to be surrounded by woodland. Our children enjoy learning and playing in the woodland throughout the year. As well as Outdoor Woodland Learning (OWL), our KS2 children enjoy playtimes in the school woodland play area.

Woodland playtimes give children the chance to create their own games, build dens and invent adventures; activities that encourage imagination, collaboration and problem-solving. Children learn to communicate effectively and resolve conflicts — essential life skills that grow in an environment where play is open-ended and teamwork is the key to success.

Children climb trees, balance on logs and run through the uneven terrain, which helps them develop strength, balance and coordination.

These experiences also help children develop a deep connection with the natural world and an understanding of the importance of caring for the environment.
