Outdoor Woodland Learning (OWL)

We are lucky to have a school that is surrounded by woodland that we use to enhance children's learning across the curriculum.  Many of our children love to learn outdoors, where they have space and freedom to play, explore and experiment. For some, this is where they learn most effectively.

The children enjoy various activities such as fire lighting, whittling, natural craft, cooking, map making and science experiments, often linked to their class projects. They learn to collaborate effectively and develop persistence and resilience.

Whether busy with a group, or enjoying the pleasant woodland ambience from their sit spot, they develop a connection with and respect for the natural world.
