Safeguarding
Here at Danehill CEP School, we are committed to the safeguarding and welfare of all of our children. We have a Child Protection policy which is regularly monitored and updated, and procedures in place to which we refer when necessary.
Contact can be made directly with our safeguarding leads Katie Jones (kjones@danehill.e-sussex.sch.uk) or Karen Evans (kevans@danehill.e-sussex.sch.uk).
If you cannot reach either of the above then please contact Early Help and Social Care Single Point of Advice on:
01323 464222 or email 0-19.SPoA@eastsussex.gov.uk.
After hours, at weekends or public holidays please contact the Emergency Duty Service on 01273 335906 or 01273 335905.
You can also contact the NSPCC or Childline if you are worried about a child. Click on this link NSPCC.

ChildLine provide all kinds of support for children who might be struggling with anxiety or other kinds of stress. Their site has recently been updated to offer support during the COVID-19 pandemic. Go to www.childline.org.uk to find out more.
Our Aims
- To ensure that all children are provided with a safe, happy and healthy learning environment where child-welfare is central to practice.
- To ensure that all staff are aware of the necessary precautions and actions to take when dealing with child protection issues.
- To establish and maintain an ethos where children and parents are secure and comfortable in talking to staff about concerns and know that they will be taken seriously.
- To establish and maintain procedures for safe recruitment, working relationships with parents and with external support agencies.
- To work with other schools in the local area to share good practice, taking advice from experts where necessary.
At times, it may be necessary to share information and work in partnership with external agencies if there are concerns about a child’s welfare. Concerns will always be discussed with the child’s parents/carers first, unless we have reason to believe that such a move would be contrary to the child’s welfare.
Our designated Safeguarding Leads are: Katie Jones (Headteacher) and Karen Evans (Class Teacher).

Prevent - Managing Radicalisation & Extremism: Safeguarding Concerns
Safeguarding children who are susceptible to radicalisation involves working together. This includes services, local authorities and partners working together to protect the public. Radicalisation is a safeguarding issue. It is the process by which a person comes to support terrorism or forms of extremism leading to terrorism. There is no single profile of what might drive someone to become radicalised.
The Department for Education has advice for schools and childcare providers. The Prevent duty: safeguarding learners vulnerable to radicalisation - GOV.UKPlease see our policy and risk assessment. - FGM-risk-assessment-April-22-1 download_for_offline
